This site is located in the West Lancashire Green Belt, is surrounded by trees, and has a brook which floods passing through the site. The site is orientated with the primary sunlight located towards the road and entrance rather than the view or garden which creates a conflict between privacy, receiving natural sunlight, and maximising the views.

There is a modest volume and ground floor footprint limit on the site, however the client required a super home including a substantial amount of accommodation such as a swimming pool, gym, spa, treatment rooms, games room, large formal dining room, and multiple balconies and terraces.

The volume limit for this borough is lower than other local authorities (20% increase from the existing volume on the site), whereas the client required a 70% increase to accommodate their requirements, with the additional requirement to design the property to both Feng Shui and Vastu Design Principles, which share the ultimate objective to create a harmonious and well-balanced living environment where the occupants will thrive.

The scheme had a number of challenges which included a level limit for the subterranean accommodation due to the flooding issue on the site, and complying with the volume constraints, the rules of both Feng Shui and Vastu architecture principles, whilst managing the conflicting site constraints.
