A HISTORIC farmstead on the GISBURNE PARK ESTATE

THE site

The site is a Grade II* Listed Medieval Farm located within the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and part of the Gisburne Park Estate in the Ribble Valley. The site includes an existing farmhouse, and a number barns and agricultural out-buildings. The existing site analysis involved in-depth research into the history of the Gisburne Park estate.

THE NEXT chapter in the FARM'S history

Textured Paper Surface

THE brief

The brief was to transform the farm into a forever home for our clients who wanted to create a contemporary estate farm including a main house, guest house, leisure and hobby spaces.

THE solution

The proposal incorporates historic references and design ques used during the historic development of the Mansion House and surrounding gardens. The proposal includes a new lime avenue estate road aligned with Pendle Hill, the sensitive conversion of all barns and out-buildings across the site, and a series of new contemporary elements which together create a forever home for our clients and their family.

The new dwelling includes 4 bedrooms, a gymnasium, games room, garaging, yoga studio, drawing room, art studio, spa, and guest cottage. The design references the Gisburne Estate, agricultural buildings currently located on the site, and the existing building vernacular of the AONB whilst incorporating a number of contemporary and sustainable design features.
